All out of chances

Today and tomorrow at UMBC there is a group of pro-life students and others displaying pictures of aborted fetuses, etc. At first I was having a legitimate conversation with them until I brought up the question of why they had pictures of the holocaust. One of the men there was stating that the holocaust and abortion were the same, and that abortion is genocide. I told him that he was disgracing the memory of those who were systematically slaughtered by the Nazis. He continued to contest that they were the same and things began to get heated. I stated that there is a difference between six million jews being systematically burned alive, gassed, and shot then buried in mass graves and a medical procedure that a woman choses to have. He tried to make the case that what the Nazis did could be considered a medical procedure. That’s when I lost it. We ended up screaming for about twenty minutes. I will probably be going back tomorrow, seeing as they are stationed outside of our Commons, which is where everyone on campus goes to eat lunch and get coffee. Should be a fun day

When you’re about to lose your cool in a situation like this, slow down and take them down victory road.

Slowly move the conversation away from the talking points they have prepared for, you can’t win against these because they already believe they’re right.

Ask them what they believe the punishment for a woman should be if abortion is made illegal. Since they believe its murder suggest the woman should be imprisoned for life or according to state put to death. If they disagree, ask them why. If its a crime shouldn’t those who commit it be punished? If they still disagree ask them why make it illegal to begin with. If they bring religion into it, trump them with the 1st amendment.

I’ve brought a girl to tears with this conversation.
